Our Kitchen is pretty dull looking, from the floor to cabinets to to the ceiling. Dull. Straight up. There are some nice places to hang things, but I really don’t want to put anything paper or painting there. Or matted even because of the steam. You see there is this one spot in particular I would love to have a little splash of color:
Maybe it will make doing the dishes more of a joy. That plus some hand made dishclothes for course.
Anyway, so my thought was to do some paintings on tiles. I really like the way stenciled street art looks and thought I would go that route with the kitchen equipment. Or on the other hand, i was thinking about fashioning it after vintage kitchen towel embroidery patterns. Kind of like the veggies on the I luv veggies pattern set – but older and different and weird like how I draw stuff?
Oh! I got it, how about a combo. Like the background “stenciled” and then the “stitching” over that. But the stitching would be a stencil too but a bit more fine cutting. So imagine, awesome stencil skills, on tiles, arranged like so above the sink. Looking much better than below, but I wanted you to be able to visualize.
I want to have 2 veggies and then 2 kitchen appliances. What are your votes for? I was leaning towards:
- Tomato
- Broccoli
- Bell Pepper
- Egg Plant
- Toaster oven
- Blender
- Beater
- Skillet with happy Bacon and Eggs in it
What are your favorite veggies? kitchen appliances?
See you all tomorrow! Happy Crafting!
Kristin
Oh what a great project.
Carrots and broccoli are a must on my plate and my kitchen is not complete without a coffee grinder and kettle. Can’t start the day without them. Cheers from Down Under
Oh geesh! How could I not remember my french press and kettle! okay, that’s top of the list right there. Thanks for reminding me!
Hi! First time posting here, I love your blog. :-)
For the vegetables, I’d choose Brocoli & Eggplant.
For the appliances, the beater and skillet (I love your idea of bacon + eggs).
How are you going to attach them to be removable, or do you have to worry about that? I have pretty much the exact same kitchen that I’d love to color up!
