Summer Head Coverings :: Free Crochet Pattern Round-up!
I’ve been getting my garden underway this week. I just planted my strawberries on Sunday (I can’t wait to get fresh ones!). Anyway, with more and more outside time, I’m thinking my head would be better off covered. I have a lot of scrap yarn to use up and some raffia from basket making. I’ve been looking all over the internet for some free crocheted summer hat patterns and here are the ones I like the best.
Vintage Sun Hat (and bathing suit and beach coat) I really love the hat and beach coat, the swimming suit, well, I hardly want to put myself into a one piece at this point, haha.
Crossed Bucket Hat from Tiff Crochet
Crochet Drops Hat One, Two, and Three. All pretty similar, but perfect for the garden.
Vintage Pineapple Hat provided by Blue Prairie on Flicker. I think this one would be a great hat to make to get the pineapple pattern into my pattern tool belt.
Retro Rings Tam by Jaybird Designs
This head wrap just screams “Craft Leftovers” and I just couldn’t not include it. I know I’ll be making one for sure!
Button Bedecked Headband on Craft Stylish
Here are a few hats I came across that I love, but maybe aren’t “summer” so much. Worth a look for sure though.
Pebble Lace Crochet Tam on Rosie’s Yarn Cellar
Puff Beret (ravelry only)
I’m still not sure which hat to make, maybe I’ll just mash everything I like about each one into one hat, just for me.
What’s your favorite summer hat (crochet, knit, sewn, or otherwise)? Link up and share the pattern or picture.

thanks for including my headband–it IS perfect for leftovers! my fave summer hat is one i crocheted from raffia last summer- the raffia was a little hard to work with, but it looks like a real (uh, store bought) sun hat.
on the pineapple hat is that size 60 thread? Just making sure. thanks
I believe it is size 60 thread. Amazing right? Lovely isn’t it?
