Excuse me while I pass out: Just finished my manuscript

Like all crafty book authors told me, it’s a mess at the end. I wanted to check in to let you know that I haven’t completely dropped off the planet, but it’s pretty close. I’ve been buried in my studio and home office typing away trying to get the last of the 40,000+ words written and stitching up the projects that go along with those words.

And of course, me being me, it’s not like I approached this project at a steady pace. Nope. When push came to shove, calamity struck. I’ve been hit with a series of unfortunate events both internal (food poisoning, missing my injection so I got crazy hormonal and migraines) and external (burning my hands on hot peppers, all of Ames going underwater, Craft Leftovers getting hacked, then hacked again, then my iTunes password was stolen and my account overdrawn). In the mix of all that has been moving and resettling, work, eat, and, oh yeah, sleep. I’m okay, but it’s set me back quite a bit with the book, which Storey Publishing has been really great about.

I’m so happy to have finished this phase of the book. I know submitting my manuscript is just part of the book puzzle–there are still edits (please and thank you!) and photo shoots. I’m still happy to have this part completed. All and all, this year has been amazing so far. I’m looking forward to winding down into the holidays and then kicking things back up after the first of the year.

For here on the blog, I’m going to keep posting light until the end of September. In October there will be a solid 3 posts a week. I have a lot of fun things planned, so definitely good things to come. For now though, I’m going to cut myself some slack on posting while I put together the October issue of Craft Leftovers Monthly. You are going to love the outdoor crafting I have in store for you. Not to mention some of my newly acquired herbalist knowledge in a lovely illustrated article about my new best friend–oat straw! And crafting, oh the crafting. I’m going to have fun “having” to knit a new pair of mittens. Going through all that yarn stash really got me thinking about all the awesome fun projects I want to be making. :)

I’ll see you all next week! Have a great weekend!

Kristin
