Crochet Sun Tea Spot: Free Coaster Pattern

Materials Needed

:: Size G Hook
:: Sun Tea with Ice and Straw

Finished Size
3 3/4” (9.5 mm) diameter

Notes
All stitches are worked through both loops.

For one of the first times this year I sat outside on the front stoop to work. As I put my sun tea down I had a deep seated fear that I was going to crack the bottom on the concrete … no good. So what to do? How about crochet my own little spot for my sun tea.

Unfortunately, today is not one of those “sit outside in the glorious bliss of the sun” so here it is keeping my external from getting wet.

Directions:

  • Chain 5, join in the round with a slip stitch to form a ring.
  • Rnd 1: Chain 1, sc into the chain ring space 12 times. Carry the tail at the same time so you won’t
have to weave it in later.
  • Rnd 2: Chain 1, *2sc into the first single crochet stitch from the hook, 1sc into each of the next 2 single crochet stitches. Repeat from* to end. Join to the beginning of the round with a slip st.
  • Rnd 3: Chain 1, *2sc into the first single crochet stitch from the hook, 1sc into each of the next 3 single crochet stitches. Repeat from* to end. Join to the beginning of the round with a slip st.
  • Rnd 4: Chain 1, *2sc into the first single crochet stitch from the hook, 1sc into each of the next 4 single crochet stitches. Repeat from* to end. Join to the beginning of the round with a slip st.
  • Rnd 5: Chain 1, *2sc into the first single crochet stitch from the hook, 1sc into each of the next
5 single crochet stitches. Repeat from* to end. Join to the beginning of the round with a slip st.
  • Cut yarn and weave in all ends.

Options:
If you would like to do alternating stripes, just join in your new yarn at the beginning of Rnd 2. Carry the yarn of your main yarn to the next rnd, pick that up and crochet with it and carry the contrasting yarn. This helps not only with not having to weave in ends, but also makes a thicker fabric!

pitcher, and let sit in lots of sun
    for at least 3 hours.
  • Pour into a glass with ice, place
on your sun tea spot and enjoy!

Until next time…
