I was so happy to get my copy of Re-Construct in the mail 2 weeks ago, there are so many great projects it took me a few days to watch it all. You can pick up your very own copy here. Each project is actually like a show. They go through all the steps of how to start, make, and enjoy each project featured. You can see the trailer here or a bonus project here on how to make your own circuit board clock. As you can see in this clip, they have a nice materials list at the beginning of each project. I always hate when they zip through supplies/ingredients on craft/food shows – so this in and of itself was a great first impression.
I just loved the projects and pretty much couldn’t stop watching once I had started. It’s like I was gobbling up the reuse crafting delight that they have put together. I’m always of fan of anything that will help me use up my cardboard – although i’m not a break dancer like Garth claims, I get quite the stash of that around the apartment – this little ottoman would be just the thing for me. Especially since I’ve been wanting one for awhile and just thinking it would be too expensive, well, no more!

And of course everyone needs a shelf that looks like a book. Something that I always thought was a little too advanced for my wood working skills is now makes complete sense to me. And I think that’s what I really like about this dvd, they really do make reusing of materials and supplies on hand very easy to understand. Although I would recommend putting the book in a vice grip over having someone hold it – somehow that just seems like a bad idea, haha. I have horror images of my drill going through the side of the book into my friend’s hand – like I said, my woodworking skills aren’t the best ;)
The fabric paintings done by Guest crafter Angela Nichols of gubstuff.com are so dynamic. I immediately tried one for myself (on paper to my own demise) and it turned out so bad I will not show that to you, but I think I was too impatient to wait for the glue to dry + paper instead of canvas that did me in. Haha, but the next one I will wait and it will be beautiful!
Oh and there is an interview with each of the hosts: Jeanée Ledoux and Garth Johnson. I enjoyed both the interviews and particularly enjoyed Jeanée’s story of how she grew up being a crafter before she really understood what that was. I think a lot of us can relate to that.

I’m going to post on Wednesday about the maker’s faire – what we are doing for demos and what the workshop will be all about + about the goodies I will be giving away. It’s going to be a great time! I’ve been pretty swamped with email, but if you have emailed me about meeting up and I haven’t replied yet, well, I will and I’m sorry it’s taken so long! That’s my big “to do” today – get through the back log of email and update the archive.
See you soon!

Hi there. Are your giveaways open to International readers?
Good question! Yes they absolutely are. The way I see it is that many of my readers are international and have supported me through reading (ad rev), sales, and kind comments. Why shouldn’t they get to benefit from giveaways too :)
