Out and About Headwrap :: Free Sewing Quicky

I have been wearing around this head wrap I picked up at a thrift store all summer and every time I do Jason comments on how cute I look, which makes me think the head wrap is adding to the cuteness. Well, bright neon orange doesn’t match everything I wear, although that would be fun if it did, so I decided to make some more. I really like the size and shape of this head wrap because it ties so well in the back.

Re-Release:: Zip It!

I have always really liked this pattern because it’s so simple to make. And when you are recycling a skirt for fabric, it uses up that part that is hard keep in tacked. Use a little bit of bias or hem tape or ribbon to cover up the raw edge inside of the clutch and you have one really nice finished clutch in just a few minutes. Perfect.

Maker’s Apron :: Free Sewing Pattern!

makerapron06 Enter the Maker’s Apron. It’s a studio apron, cooking apron, garden apron, and painter’s apron. Calling it a Maker’s apron just made sense. Put it on and you are ready to go. The plan was just that it would be a little apron for wearing in the garden and I was going to give it away. Well, I tried it on and wore it around (just to see if it felt right on you know) and before I knew it, it was filled up with my phone, pencils, pens, erasers, paper, scissors and all sorts of other things. Spruce :: Sewn Fingerless Gloves :: Free Pattern!

Spruce I had pulled out a few different scraps from my fabric bin to play with. I was thinking a small something something. Nothing big. Quick. Easy. Small. Well, my hands were cold. Really cold. And it hit me! Sewn fingerless gloves! Not exactly the easy peasy tiny project I planned, but very well worth it. I dug around in what I had pulled out of the bin and bingo! Felted sweater scraps. Perfect. I had one that was the shoulder section, then another that was the bottom ribbing and a sleeve. Hmm, how to make this work. Well I figured it out and work it did! Now my hands are all toasty while I work! Spruce as in the color as well as sprucing up some old sweaters!

I finally came up with a good idea for the pin cushion. So for me, my problem is storage. I really can’t have little cushions cluttering up my work space and at the same time, I don’t want to have to go hunting for it when I need it. I saw one of Trixy’s little quilt squares and it was like “that’s it!” I’m going to make a little cube with a loop so it can hang on my tool rack. I’m going to put a little lavender in it too so it will make my studio area smell nice every time I stab it. If I had emery sand I would put that in there too, but I don’t so rice and stuffing it is.

A Walk in the Park Apron

A Walk in the Park

This apron sure is a walk in the park to make. It’s so fast and easy to whip up in an evening or morning, or afternoon for that matter. Use a pattered fabric for your main piece. Something kind of darker and kind of “filled” works well to hide stains and smudges from cooking. I’m always wiping my hands on the sides of my pants because I’m used to wearing my studio apron just about all the time. I made this apron a bit more wrap aroundish for that reason.
