I saw these sweet little filofax planner pages for free on MyGirlThursday and just had to have my own filofax planner. But, being me, didn’t want to pay much for one. My sister gave me the notebook on the right, a very nice leather journal filled with graph paper (love!). […]
Stash bust: Backsliding!
Oh no, no, no! Since my last stash bust post my little tile room full of crafting supplies has become the dumping ground for a million different piles of things from my studio, office, and around the house. We were having company and needed the living areas to look more […]
How to: Patchwork Lanyard by C.L. Tice
C.L. Tice is a writer, poet, crafter, and mom. Her writing and creating adventures are inspired by the world around her. She can be found at her blog, Mused.
Recently, my workplace changed to having swipe card access rather than the punch codes we had been using. We’ve never required ID badges for employees and I’ve never worked anywhere where we had badges or cards. So this is a new experience for me.
Wardrobe Redress: Dress into shirt!
I snatched up this dress at the Salvation Army a couple months ago while picking out things for my book’s photo shoot. It was plain, a little frumpy, an awesome neckline, and an excellent candidate for redressing! Here’s what I did to make this frumpy dress into a cute little […]
Sample Sunday
I had been hearing rumors of “sample sunday” for the last few months. Just a half hour away, a mini herb farm, Prairieland Herbs, hosted a monthly event where local makers and producers came and gave samples to those who came by. And just up the road, another lovely local […]
How to: Build a Pea Teepee
I actually planted my peas according to my planting schedule for the first time ever and they have done great. So great that they are in some need of support before they turn into a tangle and smother each other right out of production.
Thrift Kitchen: Baked Eggs!
We have, I kid you not, 18 baby chicks in our basement. They are Jason and I’s + our friend’s egg investment plan. We each get 9 each–4 of mine are broilers. So for Jason and I, we will have our own little flock of 5 layers. I wrote about […]
DIY Wedding: Save the Date Cards
I sent out Save the Date cards for our fall wedding on Friday and I think they turned out pretty well. My sister and I were inspired by old vintage train ticket, circus tickets, and and, I would be a jerk not to point you to the great items on etsy that influenced by own design strongly.
How to: DIY Laundry Detergent Batch #2
I’m start to stretch my DIY wings again and I’m excited to make batch #2 and share it with you. I’m also happy to have some better pictures to make the process look a little more sexy than the last time. Well, would you look at that, my photo skills have improved over the last two years. Go me.
I want to thank Trent of the Simple Dollar for blowing my mind with this simple process over two years ago. I’m still in awe of it’s simple money saving power.
Little Woods Homestead: New Garden Journal
A little known fact is that I’ve had miserable luck as a gardener. And the thing is, that up until this year, I left a lot of it up to luck. I’d plant things whenever, wherever. Even though I knew such casual practice would lead to casual results. Well this […]
How To: Craft Stamped Thank you Cards
The littlest of leftovers are often the hardest to work with. What do you do with one foot of yarn? A single lone button? Well, I came across these two fun ideas and decided to join them together to make my own leftovers project that uses up those littlest of bits.
I still owe some family members thank you cards from my birthday in April so these will be going into the mail as soon as this post is up!

This month’s issue is all about spring turning to summer–gardening, cleaning up, and allergies! I don’t know about you, but my nose is going nuts with all the pollen around here.

Public Service Announcement: Vending Art and Craft Side by Side!
Last year I was the chief instigator in coordinating, designing, and funding an 80 foot mural project. With the help of many amazing local friends, family, and businesses, I actually pulled it off. (I had lot of help). We won a grant and we got local donations of supplies. We had […]
Framing up: How to restore old beat up frames
Destash Check in!
(this is now) (this is before) I’m happy to report that much progress has been made. First, I took the suggestion of many commenters and brought some organization to the pile. Whew, that’s better. Now I can actually get to the things I need to get to. I did toss […]
WIP’s of a different nature: Art Making!
It’s my newest leftovers project: the crochet thread was my grandma’s, the mat board is from the art shop I used to work at, the paper was from my stash, and they are all wips that have been languishing too long in a box. My art making really follows the same place as my crafting does. And it’s crushing my stash just a little bit more with each stitch (thanks everyone who’s helped to relocate my stash!).
Book Review: 101 One Yard Wonders
Perfectly suited for using up your stash,One-Yard Wonders by Rebecca Yaker and Patricia Hoskins is packed with fun, creative projects for my office, home, and even my wardrobe! There’s a super cute summer dress made from just one yard of fabric! I’m so happy I finally got my hands on […]
Studio Move: Great things… & so time to destash
This past month I moved my studio to my home fully, finally, and officially. I really like our house. So does Jason. We decided not to renew the lease on our office. I’ve been slowly moving home the most used things. March 28th, we moved all the least used things. […]
