Join me for 40 minutes of relaxed mending and afternoon tea. Today I reknit the top of my daughter’s hat that “exploded” at school. I also show off a few other projects in my mending basket and the socks I’m knitting up just for fun. Show Notes Sign up for the […]
Enjoy Episode 6 of the Craft Leftovers Podcast (an abridged recording of the May livestream) in audio form. Pull up a project and craft along. I’m on a deadline this month so instead of mending, I’m slaying the reed on my loom. Thanks for the company! I’m talking all about […]
Winter is always the season of weaving for me. With my overly large floor room, it’s the only time of year that I’m okay being tucked into my basement studio for hours shuttling back and forth. I turn on the space heater, bring down a pot of tea and put […]
The weekend was ripe with potential. And then I got laid out flat with some kind of cold/sinus/fall muck. So I decided to spend Saturday and Sunday playing around with paper and trying to figure out which origami ornament would be the one I make for all my friends and […]
The Whip this WIP Challenge was a success because I’m now finished with my scarf that has been on the needles for far too long!
*imagine devo playing in the background* We all have projects laying around the house that could easily be finished in a week or so if we would just dedicate ourselves to them. I know I have a whole box! I’m challenging myself and YOU to go grab your unfinished thing-a-ma-jig, […]
Bob is an awesome dog. We go running and camping together. He plays in the yard while I garden. And tonight he even helped me find a chicken that decided to hunker down in a bush instead of the coop — oh yeah and it’s pouring rain outside. We are […]
I have a huge WIP to share with you this week: a 24′ long mural! A little shy of a month ago I was hired to design and paint a mural for an elementary school. It was in honor of their successful community garden and the idea was to kick […]
I’ve had so much fun making many many paintings this past weekend using the Assisted Painting method I showed you all in the last issue of the zine. In a few hours time I whipped up a batch of 5 paintings. They are all pretty small (4×4″ each) and I’m […]
Since we purchased our first piece of grown up furniture I’ve really been wanting to make some pillows for it. Dashes of colors, coziness, and diy goodness. Now that I’ve finished the daybed too, we are in dire need of some extra piles of cozy around here. And I have […]
The weekend before the wedding I decided it would be a good idea to build a day bed for our guest bedroom. To some this might be crazy, but to me, it was perfect. We ended up finishing the daybed on Thursday, just a couple of hours before the person […]
I didn’t even know it, but my book is officially up on Storey’s site as “coming soon!” as of last week. Thanks to @staciemakedo who clued me in to this exciting news. Here is the run down on the book according to their site. Those marketing folks at Storey sure […]
Oh no, no, no! Since my last stash bust post my little tile room full of crafting supplies has become the dumping ground for a million different piles of things from my studio, office, and around the house. We were having company and needed the living areas to look more […]
It’s my newest leftovers project: the crochet thread was my grandma’s, the mat board is from the art shop I used to work at, the paper was from my stash, and they are all wips that have been languishing too long in a box. My art making really follows the same place as my crafting does. And it’s crushing my stash just a little bit more with each stitch (thanks everyone who’s helped to relocate my stash!).
This Saturday Jason and I delightfully welcomed the newest citizen of our home: Jak Jak Par, a retired racing greyhound. And, being me, I immediately looked up everything I could about knitting for dogs. You see, Jak has 7% bodyfat, and at 80 lbs and about 3 feet high he […]
Jason and I are having a load of fun lately with starting up our own indoor garden and playing around with home brewing. Me, well, I just needed some green in my life. And, like I talk about at the end of today’s post, learning new things and spending time […]
After so much intense sewing for the book, that pile of yarn is looking pretty inviting. Hi ya yarn, how’s it going? What have you been up to? Oh a sweater you say? Knit a sweater? I think I will. In fact, I think I’ll crochet one too.
It’s been fun pushing my pile of yarn WIPs and seeing what I want to finish up next. I’ve fallen back in love with these two projects.
