It’s been awhile since I started a new knitting project, so I wanted it to be really great. Something I would want to wear all the time. And something that would be brainless to knit so I can take it everywhere for me. At first I was going to do […]
Finished Objects, stash busting, and using up leftovers
Quite some time ago I posted about how I was working through my stash of works in progress. I thought (unrealistically) I would be able to post progress on this pile of wips each week. Ha! Yeah right. Let’s see that was how many weeks ago? 12 weeks. Yep, twelve. […]
Analogous Striped Delight: Knit ReRelease Pattern
It is always so satisfying to use up stash yarn I must say. I’ve had this nondescript bundle of bulky super wash wool for quite sometime. It was given to me by a friend who was de-stashing. Known as the “Craft Leftovers Girl” I often get donations of leftovers from […]
Game Knitting: Book Review!
Game Knitting aye? What is that? Think tv drinking game meets knitting. But instead of a hangover, you get a one of a kind fun knit project! Wonderful! I have never seen anything like this and I am so excited to have my first game knitting night :) I just […]
Slip Stitch Strategy :: Using Up Yarn Bits
Often it’s those last 10 yards that are the hardest to find uses for. What the heck do you do with those? Thankfully there are many answers to that question! But today I am going to just focus on one: Slip Stitch Knitting! Traditionally, fair isle work using up more […]
H2O Slinger Duo ReRelease:: Free Yarn Craft Pattern!
You see my bike has a sloping high bar – which makes it great for when I want to wear a skirt and am riding somewhere, but also makes it so there is no place to put a holder for my water bottle. Awesome and lame all at the same time. So I made myself a knit water bottle holder that I could sling over my shoulder and have water whenever I needed it. A few years later I made another one – crochet this time!
Free Sew Pattern :: Vintage Project Basket
I think at one point or another we have all come across project baskets like this and have been saddened about thier disrepair. How to fix them back up again. I’ll walk you through how I fixed up my own and the pattern for remaking your own. There will also be some ideas on how to remake your own basket: How to deconstruct the fabric and make a pattern from it.
Re Release into the wild :: Stash Socks
Knit Basket Breakdown :: Part 2
I don’t know if any of you remember from awhile ago when I posted about my Knitting Basket and how it’s broken down and I want to fix it. Well, I’ve finally got around to it and thank you so much for all your suggestions!
Snowdrop Gauntlet :: Free Pattern :: Knit or Crochet!
I have been wanting to make gauntlets for a long time now and, guess what? I did! And then I made another one! Haha. One is knit and one is crocheted, so a little something for everyone (well, unless you are a sewer only, in which case, I might make a sewn one soon).
Hook and Needle Drawer :: ReDress!
It’s great having a place to put all my stitch markers instead of just putting them into random little pouches and bags and cubbyholes.
I redid the wooden 4 drawer set I had mentioned yesterday. It wasn’t really hard to do but made me feel really good. Kind of set the rest of my day on good footing you know. Here is what I did:
Getting Organized :: Hooks & Needles :: Help!
A pressing thing – hooks and needles. I need a serious storage solution for sure, but I don’t have a lot to spend. I have a little wooden 4 drawer deal, but I think that my circulars would catch on the inside and it would turn into a huge headache. […]
Beginning Knitting Book Round Up!
My first beginning knitting class is coming to a conclusion and I want to make sure to give these new knitters some great resources to take with them into their future knitting adventure. I know I would recommend Stitch N’ Bitch for sure, it has great illustrations and tips for […]
ReReleasing to the Wild:: Coffee Sweater!
So the coffee sweater is this month’s Craft Leftovers Monthly Kit. I did a run through with it to make sure it would work with fingering weight yarn. Welllll, it does…. but then while knitting through it I found that just about ever row, except the “knit all” rows, was […]
How To :: Purling!
Purling defied my understanding for quite some time when I first learned to knit. mainly because I was twisting all my stitches. One thing that helped was to think of it as going over the top of the needle counter clockwise and with knits going around clockwise. I’ve remembered it […]
Stitching School: Cable Cast On
I use this cast on all the time. It’s my default, if it’s not specified in the pattern cast on to use. It’s also the best cast on to show in training knitters. The thing is, the cast on method is pretty much the same as knitting a knit stitch. […]
Cherry Loves Honey in the Shop!
I am happy to announce two new kits and a redo of an older kit today! It’s been a long time coming because the before mentioned errors in the Cherry Chirp Pattern, but no more waiting, they are now available in the shop! The Cherry Loves Honey kit (two pattern […]
Re-Releasing to the Wild :: Cherry Chirp :: Free Knitting Pattern!
Quite some time ago I first wrote and posted the pattern for the Cherry Chirp Bird. I love this pattern and think it came out really cute. Standing about 8 inches tall, 4 inches wide, and 8 inches long they are a quick knit and takes a mere 40gram of […]
Coffee Sweater :: Free Knitting Pattern!
I was pretty put off by all the leather sleeves on my coffee mugs and at one point I had finally just had enough. I just didn’t like the idea of it. So I knit a new cozy for my coffee mug from the no kill alternative – wool. And best of all, you can also use this sleeve on those paper coffee cups instead of using the card board ones or double cupping. Perfect!
January Craft Leftovers Monthly :: In the Shop!
I’m happy to say that the January issue of Craft Leftovers Monthly is in the shop!
