I have been teaching more kiddo workshops lately so when I saw this project posted on Craft I just had to link up. I’m always on the lookout for new interesting way to talk to kids about fibers. I can tell you that the kids who had used the “stitch” […]
Mini Grandma Sew Box
In tribute to my grandma and my great grandma, I made a mini sew box with a mini pin cushion. I wanted something to put in my mending basket – Friday is now my mending day officially – and this is just the thing. You can make the mini sew box and pin cushion in just a few evenings of crafting.
Submissions and Contributions
I just finished adding all the info on the sub-pages and I have two great additions to the site! I split the old “support cl” page which was long and burdensome. It is now divided into two: Support You can contribute in two easy ways. If you have a website/shop/blog […]
How To::Kitchen Tile Stencils
After a few false starts I have finally finished up the kitchen tile redress project – and I’ve made the stencil templates into a pdf for you to print out and use. They are great for more than just tiles too! I was thinking they would look great to label […]
Craft Leftovers ReDress
Redressing the website is for the most part finished up. There are still a lot of buggy little things going on that we are going to work on over the next week or so. We found that a whole bunch of posts are not being archived correctly and the links […]
Kit Combo Day!
Yesterday was kit making day. I was going to post about it last night but was freaking tired and wussed out, ha! Anyway, Jason helped me put together about 60+ yarn craft kits and I’m working on another 40 sewing kits and 20 paper kits (collage it and stitch n’ […]
Scheduled Site Maintenence
Holy cow all the order! I am sorry to say I didn’t get it to the post office by the last pick up on Saturday so they will go out in the morning. That was the most orders I have ever received any month, hands down! Thank you! Jason has […]
Banana Walnut Cookies :: Thursday in the Thrift Kitchen
I posted this awhile back on Thrift Kitchen, then used the recipe in an issue of Craft Leftovers Monthly, and will now share it with you today – totally making some tomorrow. I had planned of sharing an “amazing recipe” for a Bean stew, but it came out only “good” […]
News and Notes :: Loads of things!
I am going to have a two post day today, so don’t worry, this isn’t all that there is today here on Craft Leftovers. I just wanted to post some updates. It’s been a long time since I put out a newsletter and I finally sent one out yesterday. I […]
The Sweater Chop Shop
I was delighted when Debora of Storey Publishing asked me if I would like a copy of the The Sweater Chop Shop: Sewing One-of-a-kind Creations from Recycled Sweaters by Christina Ffrench. Would I ever! This book is lovely in every way. I really enjoy how instead of models, this book […]
3 Month Subscriptions Back up!
Hi all, over the night 3 month Subscriptions ran out on etsy. I went ahead and added more and will keep an eye on it. Jason has offered to help fold, cut, package this month so I can take on more zines subscriptions (thanks Jason!) All subscriptions will be on […]
Grandmas’ Plastic Canvas Treasure Trove
This weekend I started the daunting task of digging through the remaining few shelves of stuff at my folks house. I am resolved to go through at least a few boxes every time I visit. This weekend I made it through 3 shelves of “stuff”. You know how you move […]
Craft Leftovers Monthly Update
I just wanted to post a quick update that Craft Leftovers Monthly will be in the shop Sunday, August 16th at 8pm. I’ll see you all then!
Out and About Headwrap :: Free Sewing Quicky
I have been wearing around this head wrap I picked up at a thrift store all summer and every time I do Jason comments on how cute I look, which makes me think the head wrap is adding to the cuteness. Well, bright neon orange doesn’t match everything I wear, although that would be fun if it did, so I decided to make some more. I really like the size and shape of this head wrap because it ties so well in the back.
Kits-a-Making
I am trying out something new today, working ahead! Hooray! All the kits Jason and I put together for the shop have been sold (expect two stragglers). So I went to the copy shop today and printed out what I needed to: Restock the shop (will start listing things after […]
Updates :: Going on’s in the studio and around town
Oh, a few random updates. I taught a book binding workshop yesterday and it was awesome! It was the biggest workshop I’ve ever taught and it went off without a hitch. I also had the first ames c.art community art discussion group and that also went really well and I’m […]
Re-Release:: Zip It!
I have always really liked this pattern because it’s so simple to make. And when you are recycling a skirt for fabric, it uses up that part that is hard keep in tacked. Use a little bit of bias or hem tape or ribbon to cover up the raw edge inside of the clutch and you have one really nice finished clutch in just a few minutes. Perfect.
Editting Life :: The Perfect Day
“Hmmmm, what is my perfect day?” is what instantly ran through my mind when I read a Zen Habit’s post “Your Life, Simplified“. And I was shocked by and pleased with the images that instantly ran through my mind. It wasn’t being rich or famous or busy all the time, […]
How To :: Make Your Own Canvas Panel
It has finally happened, the first ever video tutorial for Craft Leftovers! This morning as I was searching around for things to post about I realized I wanted to show you the process of how to make your own canvas panel from start to finish and that photos just wouldn’t […]
Free Crochet Pattern :: Tribble Trivet
One of the things I like the most with crochet is that it works up to be a nice thick fabric. Unfortunately it can be a little holey if it’s not worked tightly enough, so what would ideally be a nice pot holder is better served as a trivet. And really, what do you need more than 2 pot holders for – trivet though are what you really need a ton of – one for each dish you put out on the table actually. And since they are part of the dinner spread, why not fancy them up a bit? Plus, but using two colors instead of just one, this pattern works nicely for using up those last 10g of kitchen cotton.
