I have been wearing around this head wrap I picked up at a thrift store all summer and every time I do Jason comments on how cute I look, which makes me think the head wrap is adding to the cuteness. Well, bright neon orange doesn’t match everything I wear, although that would be fun if it did, so I decided to make some more. I have always really liked this pattern because it’s so simple to make. And when you are recycling a skirt for fabric, it uses up that part that is hard keep in tacked. Use a little bit of bias or hem tape or ribbon to cover up the raw edge inside of the clutch and you have one really nice finished clutch in just a few minutes. Perfect.
One of the things I like the most with crochet is that it works up to be a nice thick fabric. Unfortunately it can be a little holey if it’s not worked tightly enough, so what would ideally be a nice pot holder is better served as a trivet. And really, what do you need more than 2 pot holders for – trivet though are what you really need a ton of – one for each dish you put out on the table actually. And since they are part of the dinner spread, why not fancy them up a bit? Plus, but using two colors instead of just one, this pattern works nicely for using up those last 10g of kitchen cotton.

My addiction to fabric means I have accumulated quite a stash of leftover scraps; pieces too small for most projects but too lovely to throw away.
All this leftover goodness can be utilized by making a table runner. As well as making your table look chic, a table runner is useful for protecting your table from hot pots.

You see my bike has a sloping high bar – which makes it great for when I want to wear a skirt and am riding somewhere, but also makes it so there is no place to put a holder for my water bottle. Awesome and lame all at the same time. So I made myself a knit water bottle holder that I could sling over my shoulder and have water whenever I needed it. A few years later I made another one – crochet this time!
Enter the Maker’s Apron. It’s a studio apron, cooking apron, garden apron, and painter’s apron. Calling it a Maker’s apron just made sense. Put it on and you are ready to go. The plan was just that it would be a little apron for wearing in the garden and I was going to give it away. Well, I tried it on and wore it around (just to see if it felt right on you know) and before I knew it, it was filled up with my phone, pencils, pens, erasers, paper, scissors and all sorts of other things. I really love this clutch for 2 simple reasons – one it is so quick to make, just under a half hour and you have a little clutch; two it is perfect for holding pencils, pens, and crochet hooks! Perfect!
